Stucco keratosis, also known as keratosis alba, is a benign skin condition that most commonly affects the feet and legs. In stucco keratosis, the tops and sides of the feet typically develop lesions, but not the soles. As a patient becomes older, these lesions become more prevalent. The condition’s name is derived from the lesions’ rough, sticky appearance that resembles stucco texture.

The raised or flat lesion in stucco keratosis is generally white or gray in color and is 1 to 10 millimeters in diameter. Yellow lesions have also been reported. The lesion seems dry and scaly, and it may enlarge over time. However, it does not cause any discomfort other than possible disfigurement of the area.

Treatment isn’t required because stucco keratosis lesions aren’t harmful. However, if the appearance bothers a patient, there are several cosmetic treatment alternatives that may assist. Freezing, scraping, topical ointment, and surgery are some common treatments.
